The Information and Communication Technology Research, Development and Innovation (ICT RDI) Strategy for South Africa provides an enabling framework to advance innovation for socio-economic development.
It provides a coherent, systematic approach to R&D. It also identifies a number of technology and innovation domains.
The strategy is being implemented by the CSIR Meraka Institute. This unit focuses on ICT to deliver new technology, transfer innovative products and contribute skills and outcomes.
The Department of Science and Technology supports the cyber-infrastructure intervention which comprises the Centre for High Performance Computing (CHPC), the South African National Research Network and the Very Large Databases initiative.
